Lalita’s film scores at Sprockets festival
Canscene) –Lalita Krishna’s Move your World, reviewed in Canscene’s April issue, received the Audience Choice Award at the recent Sprockets International film festival for children.
Move Your World beat out such crowd pleasers as Lassie, Heidi and Akeela and the Bee, all highly publicized features at the ninth edition of the festival sponsored by the Toronto International Film Festival.
The film follows the journey of three young Canadians in Tanzania. It’s an unflinching look at their feelings as they witness the effect of HIV/AIDS on children and return to Canada resolving to move their peers to action.
Says the film’ s producer-director, Lalita Krishna: “I think it’s amazing that what pleased young audiences most was a documentary about HIV/AIDS. It says something very positive about how aware and socially conscious today’s youth really are.”
The film is scheduled for televising on TvOntario next August 13.
Lalita Krishna and her Toronto-based company, In Sync Video, have been making award-winning documentaries for the past six years that often focus on youth making a difference in the world.
